Intrinsic Training deliver functional skills maths and English which are basic English, Maths and ICT skills at Level 1 and Level 2 that apprentices need for their working and personal lives.
Maths and English Functional Skills for Apprenticeships:
- Level 2 apprentices need to achieve maths and English at Level 1 and must attempt all elements of the Level 2 qualification
- Level 3 apprentices need to achieve maths and English at Level 2
- There may be additional requirements for higher level apprenticeships or particular industry job roles

English Functional Skills:
Functional Skills qualifications in English enable learners to apply the skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening in both their personal and professional lives.
Achieving these qualifications should increase confidence and motivation, and the skills gained will be very valuable in the workplace.
All three parts: Reading, Writing and Speaking, Listening and Communication (SLC) must be achieved. However, as they are each have a separate test, they can be completed at different times and different levels.
Functional Skills Maths
Functional Skills qualifications in Mathematics enable apprentices to apply numeracy and practical mathematical skills in both their personal and professional lives. Functional Skills equips apprentices with the fundamental maths skills with the ability to apply maths in all aspects of life, work and other learning.
Qualification Level
Functional Skills Mathematics qualifications are available at two levels: Level 1 and Level 2.
A single test covers all of the Functional Skills Mathematics criteria. The test can be attempted as soon as an apprentice is ready.
