Because Intrinsic Training Solutions specialise in delivering NVQ Programmes with employers on employers sites setting up and identifying employees who wish to complete an NVQ. We employ specialist assessor's to complete the NVQ programmes.

We work in partnership with different Colleges to enable us to offer up to 100% Train 2 Gain funding towards the cost of NVQ programmes.

We are also able to reduce the cost of the short courses you may require.

Structured Training

Information Advice & Guidance

Intrinsic Training Solutions offers Information Advice and Guidance to ensure we get the right people on the right NVQ at the correct level. We can also advise of which NVQs and courses are available directly through us and those provided by our numerous partner Further Education Colleges to help meet your training needs.

Most important is the delivery of the training required around the needs of production. Delivering the NVQs over a period of time rather than over consecutive days to suit the needs of any organisation and those of the individuals on short courses or NVQ programmes.

Open Days

Intrinsic Training Solutions attend your site to hold an open day to give your employees the chance to discuss and receive information, advice and guidance towards the correct NVQ programme finding out what an NVQ is. At the open day, interested individuals complete an eligibility form which is processed by the college to confirm they are eligible for Train 2 Gain funding if they decide to work towards the NVQ.

Independent Assessor 

Having indentified interest from your individual employees Intrinsic Training Solutions we then deliver the NVQ programme. We employ an Assessor who will be independant (to your organisation) who will work on your site working to the needs and requirements of the individual candidates i.e. your employees on any different shift patterns you operate. Therefore, no matter what shift patterns are worked on site, we are flexible enough to work with everybody.

Intrinsic Training Solutions delivers the NVQ programme on your behalf and keeps you informed and involved, with the progress therefore, taking away the actual delivery of the assessment process. 

As our Assessor is independant i.e. not employed by your company they work continuously with the NVQ candidates therefore ensuring constant progress.

As we start the programme we give everyone a full induction, information,advice and guidance explaining fully the requirements of the NVQ and how this is achieved.

The Food Manufacture NVQ requires completion of 8 units of which 2 are mandatory Health and Safety, Food Safety as you might expect.

The Storage & Warehousing NVQ Level 2 requires 5 units 2 of which are mandatory.

These units require a range of tasks to be completed which we would normally complete in our daily working life.

Each individual then identifies a further 6 optional units (for food manufacture) with guidance from our assessor from the units available for their 'pathway'. These are chosen from a long list of units and will depend on the area in which each individual works.

An individual working at the start of the process of food manufacture in perhaps mixing will choose different units down a different pathway - perhaps production skills to a person working in the despatch area would work towards the distribution skills pathway.

Different NVQ's and levels of NVQ require a different number of units to be completed.

Everyone is given a portfolio (folder) with the standards of the mandatory units of the NVQ with the required paperwork this is to enable the start of the programme straight away. This is added too shortly after starting with the optional units.

Continuous Assessment - No Examination

The portfolio is used to build up evidence of competency in the units chosen by using continuous assessment. Using different assessment methods identified by our assessor.

These include observation, oral questions, written questions, work product evidence and explanations against this evidence by the candidates.

Observations by our assessor take place on the production shop floor identifying tasks relevant to the units chosen by the individuals.

Written questions can be completed on the production floor. See Under Pinning Knowledge below.

Once the observations start to take place and the other evidence starts to be completed the portfolios build up into a portfolio of reference each candidate is allowed to keep their portfolio once completed and certificate received.

Under-Pinning Knowledge

This is a very important part of the NVQ as we ask for each candidate to be released off line to attend tutorials led by our assessor. At the tutorials they learn about their job tasks and why they do the job in the way they do. We do not ask for high numbers to attend just 1 or 2 candidates at a time.

This enables candidates to know the importance of perhaps separating waste and the need to report constant rejects rather than just making the rejections.

Tutorials led by the assessor are given to each candidate for each of the units. Each candidate is then asked to complete some written questions to confirm their understanding.

Apart from meeting the requirements of the NVQ these questions confirm the training received and are a record towards due dilegence and audit requirements.

Quality Assurance

Quality assurance runs throughout the process with Intrinsic Training's own Internal Verifier (IV) supporting the assessor and giving guidance.

The IV is normally the overall Programme Manager helping to ensure the requirements of the College are met as well as the requirements of the NVQ Awarding Body.

The Awarding Body is the organisation who awards the cerificate at the end of the NVQ programme.

To meet the strict Quality Assurance requirements the Awarding Body will visit Intrinsic Training Solutions twice per year to sample the assessment process and ensure the standards of the NVQ are being adhered to therefore ensuring the integrity to the NVQ system and the certificates awarded.

Awarding Bodies

Intrinsic Training Solutions are approved to deliver the NVQs and short training courses listed on this Website. There are different Awarding bodies to be approved to enable an organisation to deliver NVQs.

The Meat Training Council to deliver the Food manufacture NVQ meat industry pathways at Levels 1,2 and 3. The Meat Training Council endorses the meat pathways from the food manufacture NVQ. Meat & Poultry Processing Skills & Meat Retail Skills are obviously for the meat industry. These pathways are available for individuals working in the different areas across the industry from the abattoir to the retail shop to the retail supermarket and in the factory environment the Food Manufacture NVQ has recently been updated and has the ability to be continuously updated to keep up with this rapidly changing sector of the food industry. 

Food & Drink Qualifications

This is another sector of the Meat Training Council enabling Intrinsic Training Solutions to deliver the Food Manufacture NVQ at Levels 1,2,and 3 as an alternative to City & Guilds for employers with a preference.

City & Guilds 

Intrinsic Training Solutions are an approved centre to deliver Food Manuacture, Cleaning & Storage and Warehousing NVQs certificated by City and Guilds. We are approved by City and Guilds to deliver most of the NVQs we are able to deliver. Each NVQ programme has a different External Verifier who attends the centre twice a year to verify and sample the assessment process ensuring this meets the required standards.

Onwards Towards Completion

The portfolio with guidance from the assessor starts to build with with the required evidence. The IV samples this evidence as the portfolio is building identifying any action points to the assessor. The portfolio is then sampled to ensure the action points have been met.

On completion the IV will sample portfolios to ensure the standards have been met as required. Once the IV is happy with the portfolio the certificate is then claimed and presented to each successful individual.

Even the candidates who leave the programme early can be certificated for the work they have completed.
