Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace.
This qualification is principally aimed at young people to raise their ability to identify and understand 'Hazards' in preparation for work experience and beginning employment. It is also relevant for workers in all general work settings.
Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace.

This qualification is aimed at those who require a better understanding of health and safety for within the workplacewhether it is in manufacturing, commerce or public service. A good health and safety culture within any organisation relys the employee making it safe for themselves, safe for others and being capable of identifying potential hazards. '
Health and Safety' takes as its starting point the fact that most accidents are attributable to a lack of knowledge or carelessness and that the key to improvement is increased awareness on everybody's part.
Although employers have a legal responibility to provide safe and healthy work place conditions and safe systems of work and an essential part of any safe system is the knowledge, the attitude and the up-to-date information the employee's have to uphold such safe systems of work.
This level two certificate in health and safety aims to provide all attendees with a working knowledge and understanding to enable them to contribute to health and safety in the workplace.
The training course includes:
- Introduction
- The costs of poor health and safety
- Health and safety law
- Outlining the responsibilities under HASAW, conseuquences of non-compliance
- Accidents and ill health
- Risk Assessment - outline of the risk assessment process
- First aid at work - why this is provided,
- Personal Protective Equipment - the function of P.P.E, Workplace safety - Building structure.
- The use of different safety signs.
- Work equipment - How equipment can cause injury. Work station design - repetitive strain injury (RSI).
- Electricity - Installation testing and maintenace.
- Fire prevention - the fire triangle.
- Hazardous substances - correct use and control methods.
- Ergonomics and Manual handling - Correct lifting techniques, manual handling.
- Noise - Noise reduction, hearing protection and 'what is noise.'

- Deliver over 1 day
- On your company site to suit your operational requirements
- Multiple choice exam of 30 questions, 20 correct answered are required to pass.
- Delivered in english
- Test papers available in different languages (with prior arrangement)
- Oral Tests available (with prior arrangement)
- All successful attendees receive an individually named certificate endorsed by one of our accredited nationally recognised awarding organisations.
Level 3 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace.
This qualification is aimed at supervisors who are required to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation. Supervisors should feel able, on the completion of the qualification, to design, implement and monitor a health and safety programme within a small to medium sized organisation having moderate risks.
Supervisors have both a legal and moral role responsibility to look after the health & safety of employees. This Level 3 qualification will enable managers and supervisors to improve the health & safety culture of theeir organisation.
Those who would benefit are team leaders, supervisors and junior managers.
- The training course will include:
- What is health & safety
- Accidents in the workplace.
- Ill health in the workplace.
- Legal provisions (in the UK only).
- Health & safety organisation and management.
- Supervising health & safety.
Intrinsic Training Solutions deliver this training course
- The training course is delivered over 18 hours usually over 3 days.
- Arranged to suit operational requirements
- Attendees must attend 80% of the course to start the test.
- The test is a 60 questions multiple choice test paper
- Maximum time allowed is 2 hours.
- All successful attendees will receive an individually named accredited certification from a nationally recognised awarding organisation.
Level 4 Award in Health & Safety in theWorkplace
Aimed at those in the workplace who participate in activities related to health & safety and who also have a related management and/or training role. The qualification equates to the advanced qualification.Examples are senior supervisors, departmental managers and operations managers with responsibility for multiple sites.
