The Apprenticeship in Warehousing and Storage is made up of different certificated elements which when all completed make up the Apprenticeship in Warehousing and Storage. The apprenticeship in Warehousing and Storage skills provides access to a high quality skills programme as an alternative to an academic qualification. Providing a career pathway to provide staff who have knowledge, skills and can build their confidence to enable them to pursue a career at a higher level. The elements required:
- The functional skills in English and Maths required to build a career in the warehousing industry.

Apprentices are provided with an electronic portfolio for the programme. The portfolio contains learning materials needed to meet the assessment requirements. Every apprentice has an assessor appointed to guide them through their apprenticeship. The assessor works with each apprentice observing them working to the company procedures, building their knowledge and skills building evidence which is then referenced to the required criteria in their own e-portfolio. Apprentices are assessed and supported throughout the learning and assessment of the apprenticeship process. Apprentices will receive a City and Guilds certificate on completion of each element of their apprenticeship which will take a minimum of a year. This time allowed illustrates the minimum disruption to normal workday requirements.

Two of the important elements of the Warehousing Apprenticeship is to sharpen the Math skills used in industry and required in a career in the warehousing sector. An assessor is appointed to support and guide the apprentice towards the completion of the required assessments in Mathematics, English speaking, writing and reading. Both elements are completed at level 2 in the Intermediate Apprenticeship.
Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Warehousing & Storage Skills
The Level 2 NVQ Certificate is practical work-based qualification that is recognised by employers throughout the UK. The Certificate is awarded to people who have proved they have sharpened skills, knowledge and understanding in all aspects of their job. The Level 2 Qualification is for apprentices working in the role of warehouse Team Leader/Supervisor or Manager. The apprentice must demonstrate a sufficient level of competence to complete a range of units with each unit given a credit value. To complete the NVQ each apprentice will complete mandatory units plus a range of units which need to meet the rules of combination (ROC). This means instead of completing a set number of units i.e. subjects apprentices are required to achieve a number of credits.
